EMDR Therapy with Children Victims of Sexual Abuse

This workshop will address the therapeutic work necessary to help children who have experienced abuse and complex developmental trauma. Issues related to stabilization such as state change, affect tolerance and psychoeducation will be covered. Children with histories of abuse present with significant developmental deficits and unmet needs, this presentation will address how to provide corrective experiences and use protocols that can assist children in meeting such needs. Moreover, these children present with truncated defense responses that very likely will become activated during processing. Somatic strategies that can be utilized during the processing phases of EMDR therapy will be addressed.
