Ego State Therapy & Trauma: EMDR with Easy Ego State Interventions

Approved for 12 EMDRIA Credits

EMDR and Ego State Therapy (EST) are often used in tandem. Participants will understand EST through the lens of EMDR’s AIP, and shows how and when to use EST as preparation, interweaves, or instead of EMDR. It includes an introduction to ego states, the basic functions of EST, and the decision points between using or not using EST with EMDR and using or not using EMDR bilateral processing with EST. Participants will be able to utilize EST interventions with simple trauma, complex (attachment-related) trauma, and severe dissociation, as well as relationship issues, multiple chemical sensitivities, and suicidal ideation. They will distinguish between good, immediate EMDR targets, when it’s necessary to use EST for the therapy to be safe and effective, and when EMDR trauma processing should be avoided, in favor of EST.
