Healing the Heart of Trauma with EMDR & Ego State Therapy

Approved for 13 EMDRIA Credits

This workshop will present the cutting edge integration of EMDR and Ego State Therapy in the treatment of highly traumatized clients. A major focus will be the preparation phase that is required prior to actual trauma processing in the desensitization phase. Participants will be taught how to help traumatized clients develop empathy for themselves, form appropriate internal and external boundaries, and acquire skills to promote healthy affect regulation. Participants will learn how to address dissociative symptoms. A critical aspect of understanding and utilizing ego state therapy is the use of individual, group and family therapy techniques for the resolution of conflicts between the inner parts of self. This workshop will provide a clear understanding of the therapeutic model as well as technical interventions for incorporating this model into the EMDR Adaptive Information Processing model. The integration of these models allows both therapist and client the position of empathy and true understanding of the legacies of trauma, loss and attachment issues.
