Part 1 - February 27 - March 1, 2015

Part 2 - May 15-17, 2015

The EMDR Basic Training as presented by Riversage Counseling consists of three parts: Part 1 and Part 2 and 10 hours of consultation. Part 1 and 2 are both seminars of 20 hours each. Each one is a combination of didactic and experiential. At the trainings each clinician participates in supervised practice as both therapist and client in order to practice new skills. After completing Part 1, the clinician will practice the skills learned with select clients and participate in group and/or individual consultation. In order to complete the Basic EMDR Training and receive a certificate of completion, participant must complete Part 1 and Part 2, and complete 10 hours of consultation designed for the Basic Training participant. A maximum of 18 participants enroll in each training allowing each clinician to receive personal attention.

  • Historical and physiological overview
  • History taking for ID of “targets”.
  • Creating a trauma-informed treatment plan
  • Eight phases of EMDR for comprehensive treatment
  • Resource installation and stabilization
  • Applications with PTSD and special situations and populations
  • Introduction to the cognitive interweave


Topics covered in Part 2

  • More techniques for abreaction, “stuckness” and incomplete sessions.
  • Applying EMDR to a wide range of clinical diagnoses.
  • Working with complicated cases, addictions and specialty applications.
