EMDR and the Creative Use of Self
Fran Donovan will present on tapping, yoga in the chair, art and meditation as useful exercises for the EMDR therapist to use in his/her practice. Examples of this will be seen in some of the many videos Fran has been involved in that have aired on television on the East End of Long Island. She will explain the educational value to the community, of better understanding small, medium and large trauma. This in turn helps people to see the benefit of EMDR. Fran will explain the use of media to extend the message.

Fran was trained in EMDR Level One and Two in New York City by Dr. Francine Shapiro, who has referred to her as “one of my first pioneers”. Fran is a Senior Facilitator and Consultant and created the first East End Regional Meeting on Long Island. She has written and produced the international best selling video and intro to EMDR bible, “ Looking Through Hemispheres”, with Dr. Francine Shapiro and Dr. Bessell Van Der Kolk. A longtime yoga and meditation practitioner, Fran has taught EMDR, mindfulness and psychotherapy and has run popular retreats for both EMDR therapists and lay people on Eastern Long Island for many years. She also has been head of the East Hampton Crisis Intervention Team and the Red Cross Disaster Relief Team for Mental Health I and II and hosted her own mental health program, ” Health Focus” on local television.
